New practice serves lenders, fiduciaries, and law firms with valuation, workout, monetization, and disposition services for a collateral class the credit market has never been able to underwrite with confidence.

HOUSTON, TX — September 16, 2026 — Eaton Hudson, an asset valuation, disposition, and capital advisory firm operating since 1987, today announced the launch of a dedicated legal industry practice. The practice establishes Eaton Hudson as a workout, financial advisory, and asset disposition specialist for the legal industry, extending to law firms, litigation portfolios, and legal receivables the same platform the firm has applied for nearly four decades to inventory, equipment, real property, and going-concern enterprises.
The practice addresses a structural gap in the credit market: capital has flowed into law firm lending, litigation finance, and fee receivable facilities at scale, but the infrastructure to value, monitor, and recover against those assets when a credit deteriorates has not developed alongside it. Lenders have found that standard remedies do not translate cleanly to a borrower whose principal asset is a contingent claim and whose conduct is governed by professional responsibility rules.
“Access to capital — and a lower cost of capital — will fundamentally change the legal industry,” said Amir Mireskandari, Senior Managing Partner of Eaton Hudson. “Capital has been slow to move into this space not because the opportunity isn’t real, but because lenders have lacked a reliable way to understand the underlying assets. Once that collateral can be valued, monitored, and recovered with the same discipline we apply everywhere else, this becomes one of the more compelling lending opportunities in the market.”
The legal industry practice offers six core service groups, organized around the two audiences it serves:
For legal industry lenders and funders
- Case appraisals. Independent, defensible valuations of legal claims, judgments, arbitration awards, and contingency fee portfolios — covering liability strength, collectability, timeline to recovery, and net proceeds — for lending decisions, borrowing base updates, and settlement strategy.
- Advisory and execution support for lenders and borrowers in stressed and distressed law firms, including collateral assessment, restructured payment and monitoring frameworks, forbearance support, and wind-down planning — without lender control of cases or fee sharing, which ethics rules prohibit.
- Dispositions of underlying collateral. Orderly and forced-sale disposition of the tangible and intangible assets held by law firms and claim holders, including marketed sales of judgments and claims, negotiated assignments, and sales of case dockets and books of business through counsel.
For courts, fiduciaries, and law firms
- Receivership support. Valuation, monetization, and disposition services to court-appointed receivers and their counsel in law firm and legal-asset matters.
- Assignment for the benefit of creditors (ABC) support. Valuation and disposition services in ABC proceedings involving law firms and legal assets, supporting rapid assessment, orderly monetization, and maximized distributions.
- Business and operating asset valuations for law firms. Valuation of the law firm itself as an operating business — equipment, receivables, work in progress, real estate interests, and enterprise value — supporting lending, partner transitions, succession, merger, and dissolution decisions.
Eaton Hudson traces its heritage to Eaton Department Stores and Hudson Capital Partners, and its principals have led some of the largest retail and industrial dispositions in North America. The firm has completed more than $2.8 billion in inventory and asset dispositions since its founding in 1987.
The legal industry practice is the second new vertical Eaton Hudson has launched in 2026, following the July introduction of the firm’s e-commerce liquidation division.
