LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Americana singer-songwriter Marlon Hoffman has released his new single “Seahawk,” reviving a song first written 45 years ago and bringing it into the present with Davey Johnstone, longtime guitarist for Elton John, and Stephen Ferrone, renowned drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Originally written in St. Louis in 1981 with Hoffman’s band The Clones, “Seahawk” has remained part of Hoffman’s musical history for more than four decades. The new 2026 recording returns to that early song with the perspective, musicianship and experience accumulated over a lifetime in music. Recorded at Kenrose Studio in Calabasas, California, the new “Seahawk” features:
Marlon Hoffman — lead vocal and rhythm guitar
Davey Johnstone — lead guitar, piano and bass
Stephen Ferrone — drums
The recording connects Hoffman’s early rock & roll roots with the Americana and roots-rock songwriting that defines his work today.
Rather than treating “Seahawk” as a piece of nostalgia, Hoffman and his collaborators have given the song a new life. The result is both a look backward and a statement about where Hoffman is now as an artist.
“Some songs don’t leave you,” Hoffman says. “They wait for you. Seahawk waited more than forty years for me to come back to it.”
The release follows Hoffman’s album Holy Matters, co-produced with Johnstone, and continues an active period of recording and live performance for the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter.
