Getnick Law is pleased to announce that Ari Fontecchio has joined the firm after more than a decade in public service, including senior roles at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey and Main Justice in Washington, D.C.
“Ari brings a compelling combination of experience and perspective to our firm,” said Neil Getnick, founder and managing partner of Getnick Law. “He has prosecuted complex fraud cases, supervised significant healthcare fraud and False Claims Act matters, helped lead a major U.S. Attorney’s Office, and advised Department of Justice leadership in Washington. His experience and judgment will strengthen our work promoting business integrity and using public-private partnerships to combat fraud and advance the public interest on behalf of our clients.”
Most recently, Fontecchio served as executive assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, a member of the office’s senior leadership team overseeing its criminal, civil, and administrative priorities. Before his promotion to the front office, he served as chief of the Healthcare Fraud & Opioid Enforcement Unit, supervising a team of attorneys, paralegals, investigators, and analysts on the district’s healthcare fraud and opioid enforcement — including its qui tam whistleblower and claims data analysis programs — and founding its Fentanyl Precursor Interception Strike Force.
In Washington, Fontecchio served as counselor to the attorney general, advising on criminal and appellate matters before the department and participating in department-wide decisions on legal, policy, and operational issues. Before that, he served as senior counsel to the assistant attorney general for the criminal division, advising on corporate and healthcare fraud, public corruption, violent crime, and narcotics trafficking. As an assistant U.S. attorney, he prosecuted securities, bank, and healthcare fraud, cybercrime, public corruption, and narcotics matters.
Fontecchio said: “Neil and this team have built something special — a practice that fights fraud and builds lasting business integrity for its clients, from whistleblower representation to complex fraud investigations and litigation. I’m excited to join Neil and the team and bring my experience to that work.”
Fontecchio received his J.D. from Cardozo School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Law Review, and his B.A. cum laude from Cornell University. He began his legal career at Kaye Scholer LLP and clerked for the Hon. Esther Salas, U.S. District Judge for the District of New Jersey.
Getnick Law is a premier, New York-based, boutique law firm fighting fraud and promoting business integrity by representing whistleblowers under federal and state laws, conducting complex investigations and litigation, and counseling commercial clients throughout the country and internationally.
