Ankara University’s four-year rise in global rankings will continue with the QS partnership signed in Glasgow.

Ranked among Türkiye’s top 10 in QS WUR 2027, Ankara University strengthens its global ambitions through a new partnership with QS.

ANKARA, TURKEY, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Ankara University, founded in 1946 as the first higher education institution of the Republic of Türkiye in the capital city, has been placed in the 731–740 band of the QS World University Rankings 2027. The placement extends a four-year upward trend: the university stood in the 1001–1200 band in the 2023 edition and entered the global top 700 for the first time in 2026 at =697. To carry that trend forward, the university signed a collaboration agreement with QS Quacquarelli Symonds at a signing ceremony held in Glasgow in September.

The university’s standing is visible across the wider QS portfolio. Ankara University ranks 10th in the Western Asia section of the QS Europe University Rankings, holds position =658 globally in the QS Sustainability Ranking, and is listed among the world’s leading institutions in the 51–150 band for Dentistry in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The trajectory is notable in the context of Türkiye’s higher education system as a whole. Twenty-five Turkish universities appear in the QS World University Rankings 2027, with a substantial share of them clustered in the 1201–1400 band. Ankara University sits above the majority of ranked Turkish institutions and is among the group representing the country’s global visibility inside the top 1000.

Three areas of distinction: graduate outcomes, sustainability and global research reach

Indicator-level analysis of the university’s performance under the QS methodology shows its highest scores concentrated in three areas.

Employment Outcomes: This indicator measures the employability of an institution’s graduates and its record of producing alumni who go on to create meaningful societal impact. Ankara University’s performance here reflects the standing of its graduates across academia, business and public administration in Türkiye and beyond.

Sustainability: The indicator assesses an institution’s environmental, social and governance commitments across a broad frame — from campus initiatives and diversity programmes to the impact of research contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Ankara University’s position points to an increasingly well-documented social and environmental impact profile at international level.

International Research Network: Built on sustained cross-border partnerships — those producing three or more co-authored publications over a five-year window — this indicator shows that Ankara University maintains recurring, durable research collaborations spanning a wide range of countries. It is also the indicator on which Turkish universities collectively record their strongest internationalisation average.

Ankara University operates across 36 campuses with 19 faculties, 14 graduate schools, 11 vocational schools, a state conservatory and 48 research and application centres. It was designated a “Research University” by Türkiye’s Council of Higher Education in 2017 and continues to hold that status. The university is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the European University Association (EUA) and UNICA, and maintains an extensive student and staff mobility network through the Erasmus programme.

Ankara University signed a collaboration agreement with QS at EAIE 2026, held in Glasgow

Ankara University signed a collaboration agreement with QS Quacquarelli Symonds, the global higher education analytics organisation, at the 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), held at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow from 8 to 11 September 2026.

EAIE is the largest annual gathering of the international higher education community in Europe, bringing together several thousand institutions and sector organisations. Ankara University attended the conference as part of its internationalisation agenda.

The agreement was signed by Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar and QS Quacquarelli Symonds European Director Leonardo Andrade. With this agreement, Ankara University aims to maintain and further improve its current position.
